Card processors, marketplaces and payment apps usually take a percentage of what you charge plus a small fixed amount per transaction. This calculator does the arithmetic both ways: tell it what you are charging to see what lands in your account, or tell it what you need to keep and it works out what to charge instead.
Fee and net payout calculator
See what a percentage fee and a fixed fee leave you with, or work backwards from the amount you need to keep.

Enter the amount charged to see the fee and what you would be left with.
How this is worked out, and what it assumes
The percentage fee is taken from the gross amount, not from the net and not from the amount after the fixed fee. The fixed fee is applied once per transaction.
The percentage part is rounded to the smallest unit of the selected currency, half away from zero, before the fixed fee is added. Because the required charge is rounded the same way, working back from a target net can land a unit either side of it; the tool tells you which and by how much rather than hiding the difference.
Worked example: 1,000.00 charged, a 2.5% fee and a 0.25 fixed fee
The other direction: to keep 974.75 on the same terms
Adding the fee percentage to the amount you want does not work: 974.75 plus 2.5% is 999.12, which after fees leaves 973.89. That is why the calculation divides.
Everything here is worked out in your browser. The figures you type are not sent to us, saved or shared.
How to use it
- Choose what you want to work out. Pick “What I will receive” to see the fee taken from an amount you charge, or “What I must charge” to work backward from a net figure you want to keep.
- Enter a percentage fee, a fixed fee, or both, whichever your provider charges. Leave a field blank if that part does not apply to you.
- In “What I will receive” mode, enter the amount charged. In “What I must charge” mode, enter the net amount you want to keep instead.
- Change the currency if you are not working in US dollars. This only changes how the figures are displayed; no exchange rate is applied and no amount is converted.
- Read the breakdown: the percentage fee, the fixed fee, the total fee, the effective rate on the gross amount, and the net or the required charge.
Worked example
Say you invoice a client for $2,400.00 and your payment processor takes a 3% fee plus a fixed $0.50 per transaction. In “What I will receive” mode, entering 2,400.00 as the amount charged, 3 as the percentage fee and 0.50 as the fixed fee gives you:
- Percentage fee: 2,400.00 x 3% = 72.00
- Total fee: 72.00 + 0.50 = 72.50
- Net proceeds: 2,400.00 minus 72.50 = 2,327.50
Now say you want to walk away with exactly $2,000.00 after that same 3% and $0.50 fee. Switch to “What I must charge”, enter 2,000.00 as the net you want to keep, and keep the same percentage and fixed fee. The calculator works backward and lands on 2,062.37 as the amount to charge. Charge that, and the 3% plus $0.50 fee brings you back to exactly 2,000.00 net.
Limitations
Frequently asked questions
Does this calculator know my payment provider’s rates?
No. The fields start empty and you enter the percentage fee, the fixed fee, or both, from your own agreement or a recent statement. There are no built-in presets for any provider, because published rates change, vary by region and card type, and have not been checked here against a dated official source.
What if there is only a percentage fee, or only a fixed fee?
Leave the field that does not apply blank. The calculator treats a blank percentage or fixed fee as zero rather than asking you to type a zero in.
How do I find out what to charge to receive a specific amount?
Switch to “What I must charge”, enter the net amount you want to keep, and add the same percentage and fixed fee. The calculator works backward from your target instead of forward from a charge.
Why might the required charge leave me a cent over or short of my target?
The percentage fee is rounded to the smallest unit of the selected currency before the fixed fee is added, and the required charge is rounded the same way. That rounding can land a unit either side of your exact target. The calculator tells you which way and by how much rather than hiding the difference.
Is anything I type sent to Earnox Secure or saved anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you enter here is transmitted, stored or shared.
